When you apply some of the principles of progressive access to the 70+trails in our Alltrails list, you discover that there are trails to get started, to build your capacity for more demanding hikes, and trails to help you become even more adventurous. We also add other trails that Margot and I have walked with links either to custom Google maps or listings on our other favorite site, Traillink. Read more below!
Click on the map below, or open directly in ScribbleMaps on your phone here, to see more. We list our favorite trails that include interesting things to see first. We also list trails in municipal parks separately, because these tend not to offer the same experience of being surrounded by nature, but still have useful trails to get started.
Click on the map below, or open directly in Google maps on your phone here, to see more. We list longer paved trails that are easy (e.g., almost flat), followed by paved trails that are more challenging, and finally meadow or other natural trails to get hikers used to walking on uneven surfaces.
